Hi guys,

How's the preparation for the exam going? Hope that everything's going allright for you guys! For all those having exams soon, all the best!

As mentioned in our previous email, we were looking for people to fill in the various positions in MSC. I am glad to announce that all the positions has been filled. Congratulations to all. Here are the names of the incoming committtee members.

Its almost the end of the semester. I hope that everything is going fine for all of you. Just a few matters to touch on before we end this semester. As you all know, some of us are graduating this semester, and thus would have to leave uni, and sad to say, leave the positions that we are currently holding. I would like to ask all of you to consider taking up some of the positions. Most of the current committee members are stepping down, and MSC needs a fresh start. A new group of committee members to continue running the show. Here are some of the positions that are available:

Almost Here

A friend of mine just got back from Singapore this morning, and to listen to him talk about all the good food and how much weight he has gain in the past week is just too much too handle. Being away from home is not easy, especially to those that are fasting this Ramadan, salute to you all. I'm constantly thinking about the Ramadan Bazaars that we have back home, and the fact that we are always spoilt for choice. All the ayam perciks, and murtabaks, and kerepok lekors. I can see you guys salivating already. I know I am. Like they always say, the grass is always greener on the other side. Not the sky though, the haze back home is getting worse.

To all my Malaysian friends that are fasting this Ramadan, only less than 10 more days before Hari Raya. Hang in there guys, Selamat Berpuasa.

The Star Newspaper

Just thought that I'd let you guys know that there was an article in The Sunday Star's Education Section on the Merdeka Event that we had the other day. There was a small paragraph of me asking a "sensitive question"as well.

It would be impossible for the Government to provide assistance to every Malaysian studying overseas. Mustapa explained, when asked whether it was possible for some form of allowance to be given to non-sponsored students. The undergraduate who asked him the question said he had to work two jobs to pay for his living expenses.

“I know some of you are finding it hard to survive but I am proud to see how you are working to pay for your expenses,” Mustapa said.

2nd MASCA/GRADUAN Career Fair

GRADUAN^® is the ultimate one-stop careers and employment resource centre for Malaysian fresh graduates to plan their careers and find the RIGHT jobs. We provide you with a professional & unique package of information through our annual publication, website and career counseling services.

The fair was once again held in the Eastern states. At the fair, they gave away a really usefull book for new graduates. They are requesting the number of Malaysian students that will be graduating this semester so that they can send that book to us as well. I need to submit the number to MASCA as soon as possible. Malaysian Students Intervarsity Games 2006

Hey guys!! MASCA is organising the 1st Intervarsity Games for Malaysian students here in WA. Winners get to represent WA in the National level in Melbourne next year. There will be two categories, basketball and futsal. They are limiting each Uni to only four teams (two for each category). I am in the process of looking for people interested in representing ECU. Venue: UWA Recreation and Sports Centre
Time: 9am - 4pm

There will be free sausage sizzle for both players and supporters.

UCWA Merdeka Celebration

A big thank you shout out to all those that came and lend a helping hand on Sunday. A bigger shout out to those non-Malaysians that put in as much effort as well! Thanks guys!

The event on Sunday was great. With lots of good food, and entertainment, not to forget two of our friends won prizes from the raffles draw. I hope that all of you that attended the event enjoyed it as much as I did.

It was a great opportunity for us to meet more Malaysians here in Perth, and also to meet the Minister of Higher Education, Dato' Mustapa Muhammad.

The fun does not stop here. There are more events to come in the near future. Do check this blog regularly for more updates.

Happy Merdeka!! Its that time of the year again, where if we were back home in Malaysia, we would be lazying around at home, watching the National Parade on TV and going out with our families! But because we are all here in Perth, we don't get to laze around because its not a public holiday, we don't get to watch the National Parade on TV (you only get Ready Steady Cook) and worst of all, we don't get to hang out with our families!

That is not true! Your "second" family is right here to celebrate Merdeka day with you. Don't forget that we are having a gathering this Saturday to celebrate this joyous occasion! All together now!

Orientation Program
